Who is Spitfire Sam?
Spitfire Sam is Sam "Jeanne" Ploetz, licensed hair stylist and makeup artist living and working in Seattle, WA. Currently working at VAIN downtown and West Seattle, I have also been a Stylist at Salon Stella, a fabulous Deva Inspired salon in NE Minneapolis.
I am a Deva Inspired Advanced Stylist specializing in curly hair cutting and coloring; I also specialize in versatile and cutting edge hairstyles and color for women AND men, wet styling, updos, and makeup. I have worked on several small independent film projects in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, including "War Propheteer" by Killing Joke Productions and "Cosmic Dissonance" by J. Robert Larsen. Not only have I done hair and makeup, but as often happens on these small projects, I've also been an extra in "The Romantics", a grip on several projects, a costume designer, a stills photographer and put together the DVD cover for "Cosmic".
Recent work includes: Feature fashion story for Lavender Magazine, December 2011; InStyle show at the InSalon Cosmetology Conference, St. Paul MN October 2011 and October 2010; Participation in the Edwin Neill II Full Potential Award competition in the Haircutting/Styling category on May 20 2009; management of a model's entire look (performed the cut and style and designed the hair color) for the Aveda Institute's Earth Month hair show "AquAVEDA" April 26 2009 at Ground Zero; and assisting at the Aveda Cut-A-Thon under the owners of Taj Salon on April 19 2009.
